Viking Legend River Cruise Ship
The MS Viking Legend is the world's first river cruise ship with a diesel-electric drive system. The ship’s innovative drive concept makes it particularly quiet, and extremely environment friendly thanks to its 20 percent less fuel consumption.
The “Viking Legend” is equipped with 3 three-phase asynchronous generators and 6 three-phase asynchronous motors. Two AH 400 M4 generators coupled with diesel motors allow for the operation of four AH 315 ML4 motors for stern thruster drives via converters. The third AH LL4 315 generator is also coupled with a separate diesel motor and assumes the power supply for the two AH 315 L6 bow thruster motors, again via converters.
