Luxury cruise ship Crystal Bach

The 135 meters long and 11.4 meters wide 6-star ship was specially designed for river cruises across Europe. Up to 106 passengers will travel in 55 balcony suites along the Rhine, Danube and Main. The Crystal Bach belongs to a series of four river ships, including the Crystal Mahler (delivery: 20.09.2017), Crystal Ravel and Crystal Debussy (both delivery 2018). The four identical ships receive on the one hand two AEM motors for the thrusters and secondly diesel-electric drive systems with a total of four AEM generators.
For the first time, we supplied our generators with permanent-magnet excitation devices. In the case of a black start, these can supply the inverters with energy so that they start the generators and thus generate current for the start-up of the motors. The generators operate with two maximum speeds. In normal operation at 1,500 rpm and for increased energy demand at 1,800 rpm. This means that around 100 kW are additionally available for each unit.
